MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery)

Fully accredited MVHR Commissioning to comply with Building Regulations

SEA provide fully accredited MVHR Commissioning which is a necessity to comply with Building Regulations.

MVHR Commissioning ensures that the installed whole house ventilation system is balanced and functioning correctly providing the correct extract rates and fresh supplied air into the dwelling to meet compliance with Part F of Building Regulations and to guarantee a healthy and comfortable internal environment for the dwelling’s occupants.

The procedure for MVHR Commissioning

MVHR commisioning in detail

1.

The Domestic Ventilation Compliance Guide (DVCG) published in 2010 gives the approved procedures for measuring air-flows and reporting the results for Systems 1 to 4 described in Approved Document F 2010. Our BPEC qualified engineers will balance the system by adjusting the fan speed of the MVHR unit and the ceiling vents using a calibrated hooded anemometer to record the air-flow rates from the extract and supply vents. The MVHR system will be set up to run quietly and efficiently whilst achieving the designed air-flow rates.

2. Part F

Following the MVHR commissioning procedure we will provide you with an Inspection Checklist and Part F Air-flow Measurement Test Sheet as required by Building Control to demonstrate compliance with the required air-flow rates in Approved Document Part F.

Why Ventilate?

The main task of ventilation is to remove polluted indoor air from a building and replace it with fresh outdoor air. Polluted air includes moisture from washing and cooking, Carbon Monoxide from combustion appliances and smoking, Volatile Organic Compounds from aerosols, furniture and carpets and Allergens from house dust mites. On average each household member produces 5 litres of moisture per day.

Why do I need MVHR Commissioning?

Part F of the Building Regulations requires that domestic ventilation is notifiable work, ie. passed by Building Control. This means all domestic ventilation systems must be installed, tested and commissioned correctly before a Part F certificate is issued.

It is very important that the MVHR system is commissioned as most units are set to factory default when installed so will not work correctly until they are balanced.
